Home-Start Merton has been providing support, friendship and practical help to local families since 1993. Home-Start believes that every parent should have the support they need in order to give their children the best possible start in life. We aim to work in partnership with parents by supporting and encouraging them through the early years of family life. Trained, parent volunteers through home visiting, offer support to families who may be struggling to cope with a variety of challenges in their llives, including post natal illness, disability, isolation, the demands of parenting young children, bereavement and multiple births. Support is tailored to the individual needs of each family. The Taylor Family Foundation are supporting our self referral programme, enabling parents to ask for help at the earliest opportunity, before difficulties escalate into crises, and crises develop into family breakdown. www.homestartmerton.co.uk

The Fairbridge programme equips young people with the confidence, motivation and skills to turn their lives around. 93% of our young people are facing three or more challenges, such as, addiction, a lack of basic skills or low self-esteem. Individually tailored to each young person's needs and circumstances it is delivered by staff in our 15 centres based in some of the most deprived parts of the UK. The programme begins with an short Access course delivered using fun, challenging activities and residential element to engage those who may have previously struggled with structured courses. With the aim of moving towards their own goals, young people then choose from group Follow On activities which develop skills in four key areas: employability, independent living, learning and community and recreation. One to one support is provided by our staff alongside the group activities and continues for as long as it's needed. Once ready our staff assist young people in moving on to their positive next step: employment, training, education or voluntary work. 75% of young people gain a positive outcome through Fairbridge. Fairbridge is one of eight programmes offered by The Prince's Trust to unemployed young people. www.princes-trust.org.uk

We work in 120 countries around the world to inspire breakthroughs in the way the world treats children and to achieve immediate and lasting change in their lives. In 2014 we reached nearly 10 million children through our health, nutrition, education and protection work. Together with The Taylor Family Foundation's support our humanitarian work was effective in 32 countries in 2014 - a new level of demand and response in a year of exceptioal events. We protected vulnerable children in danger of illness, starvation, displacement and homelessness.  With The Foundtion's support we have also been able to pilot and initiate early intervention programmes in UK primary schools.  The Families and Schools Together (FAST) project being most notable for results and take-up by local authorities. St Giles Logo

St Giles' Children and Families Enterprise project (Café) in Kent supports offenders and their families helping to reduce re-offending and break inter-generational offending. Young lives are shattered when a parent goes to prison and children of prisoners have three times the risk of mental health problems and anti social behaviour compared to their peers. In addition families must face the stigma and often major financial upheaval as a direct result of the imprisonment of a parent. This project provides intensive emotional and practical support to the whole family around housing, employment, debt and crucially addressing parenting issues. We also help families resolve problems with family dynamics, domestic violence and expand their support networks, ultimately empowering parents to interact with their children, family and society. Thanks to the support of The Taylor Family Foundation we have been able to expand this service to reach some of the most marginalised families in Thanet, Kent.
